75th Anniversary Celebration Hosted by the Flying Scot Fleet
Now hiring: Wannabe Pilots
All ages! No experience necessary!
Have you never seen the Eiffel Tower from the air? Well now is your chance! The Flying (Get it? Haha) Scot Fleet is holding a hotly contested flying competition, with our own jet-fired balsa gliders launched from the grass runway across from the Clubhouse (a.k.a. Acworth International) toward the iconic tower itself. With a little pilot training, you may be the first to reach Paree. Or maybe just get closer than any of your fellow wannabe pilots (even if you flame out in the ball field)!
Dinner in the airport cafeteria is at 1800 hours, leaving you plenty of time before take-off to enjoy a reprise of our traditional AYC Saturday night pitch-ins, PLUS the only appropriate entrée we could possibly offer -- Wings, of course (Duhhh). Add a slice of watermelon-to-go and head outside to the airfield, where the gliders will be distributed and competition instructions given by the chief pilot. Airport staff will also be there to help with aircraft assembly and repair, should there be any mid-air collisions or crashes. If available, extra gliders may be purchased for $3.00
In addition to dinner, your airfare includes one balsa glider per every couple, and one for every kid. Our reservation lines are open, so act quickly while the good seats are still available. Then tray tables up, buckle your seat belt and get ready for take-off. Look out, Paris!
Adult dinners (Chicken Wings or Cauliflower Wings) $10 plus a dish to share; Kids 12 and under (Chicken Nuggets) $7.
Reserve by Monday, July 21, to be guaranteed gliders.
Late reservations accepted through Wednesday, July 23, will include gliders as long as they are available.
