The Laser is a single-handed sailboat for intermediate to advanced sailors, and is also used extensively in the Atlanta Yacht Club's junior program. The Laser weighs only 130 lbs. but sports 76 square feet of sail area for an often exciting ride. This boat is used in the Olympics and is sailed worldwide. There have been more than 200,000 built.
Laser Fleet 116 and the Atlanta Yacht Club host several Laser events throughout the year. Laser Super Saturday takes place in March and The No More Turkey Regatta is sailed on a weekend in early November. There are one day Laser regattas each Memorial Day and Labor Day.
A Frost-nip Series is sailed over 4 Sundays in November and early December when the temperatures may be cool but the wind is great.
