2019 AYC Hands-On Race Committee Training

Come join this refresher on the tools and procedures we use to manage races and ensure safety.

Note this is NOT a PRO training seminar, just a 2 1/2 hour refresher for AYC Race Committee teams.

Where are the radios? Where are the batteries for the blowers? Where are the mark boat keys? What equipment is kept in the shed? How much do you blow up the marks? What are those heavy white cylinders for? How do you know how much anchor line you need? How do you lay the starting pin so the line is square? What are the signals to tell sailors there is a change in course? Or a shortened race? Where is the defibrillator? Where are the epi-pens? Join and find out!

Starts at 10am with everyone gathering in the clubhouse to introduce the agenda and objectives for the day, and split participants into 3 groups.

The material will be split into three sessions:

a. Session A: Overall Race Management in the club house.

b. Session B: Barge Operations on Dock 2 by RC Barge.

c. Session C: Safety/Mark Boat Operations on Dock 1 with mark boat + jet boat.

Each group attends a session for 35 minutes, then rotates to the next session
